God's Will for Your Body
3 John 1:2 opens with a remarkable prayer: "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." This verse reveals something profound: God's concern for us is holistic. He cares about our physical health as much as our spiritual health.
Jesus the Healer
Throughout the Gospels, healing was central to Jesus' ministry. He healed the blind, the lame, the lepers, the deaf. Matthew 8:17 tells us this was a fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy: "He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases."
The same Jesus who healed then is alive today. Hebrews 13:8 declares: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." His healing power has not diminished.
Practical Stewardship of Your Body
Walking in divine health also involves being a good steward of the body God gave you. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us: "Your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit... Therefore honor God with your bodies."
This means adequate sleep, nutritious food, regular movement, and stress management. Faith and wisdom work together. We pray for healing and we also take care of what God has given us.
Healing Prayer
James 5:14-15 gives us a clear instruction: "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well."
If you are facing a health challenge, don't face it alone. Reach out to your church community. Ask for prayer. Stand on the promises of God's Word. And trust the One who created your body to restore it.
